Nope nothing, completely virus free, PC otherwise stable & I never open attachments unless I'm expecting them. I give up!

Did you install any other software or hardware? I once had a similar situation with Outlook, Word, Photoshop, etc. After completly re-formatting the system, the problem still persisted. It turned out to be a buggy HP printer driver that was causing the problem.

The error message just says that Office has generated an error and the program will close down, nothing more than that!

Ideally I'd like to stick with Office as it's nice having the calander, etc with Outlook.

I use Mozilla Thunderbird 0.1 (0.2 is out now... I haven't got it yet) for mail, and OpenOffice.org for Office stuff. Of course, this is on Linux, but both of the above have win32 versions too.

Oh, and they're both free.
