I'm not the expert these other guys are, and I installed my gallery two years ago so I don't remember the details, but perhaps it's onw of these two possibilites.

One could be when you're setting up your variables it's looking for the path rather than the url. The error is corrct that the location http://www.ukraineonline.net/public_html/temp/ really does not exist. That's an url location which starts with http:// and the domain. When you start off that way, "public_html" is hidden to the visitor looking thru a browser. So remove the /public_html so that it reads http://www.ukraineonline.net/temp/. BUT I don't think that's what the script is looking for. I think it's looking for the full path. So drop the first part and start with "/home". First try directing the script to /home/public_html/temp/ (I'm not sure about whether you should have slashes before or after anything)

Another possibility is that it is looking at the correct location but your permissions are not set up properly. Chmod that folder to 777.

Those are just two possbilities. If neither of these help try the Galley forums (and FAQ). They were able to help me out when I had questions back then.

I have tried entering it these ways: public_html/temp, public_html/temp/, and the one I posted with the error. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP

Hello Suzanne and Roo. I am using that gallery. But as I posted in the first thing, I have created a public_html/temp folder, and it still gives me the same message.

Temporary directory
The filesystem path to a temporary directory. Eg. /tmp or c:\windows\temp. Note that if you have open_basedir configured on your system, then this temporary directory must be inside the open_basedir path! In that case you may need to create the tmp directory yourself and make sure that it's writable by the webserver process

Error: Directory /public_html/temp/ does not exist. Please create it.

Lemme tell ya....

I'm not a programmer...NOT NOT NOT!!!

But I've succesfully installed, configured, customized, and tweaked Gallery.

It's not difficult, searching the forums will answer most questions, and when you can't find an answer the folks on the forum are right there with the help. You'll find a link to an excellent customization tutotal.

I'm amazed at how easy it's been, and I'm one who wants nothing to do with the backend. If I can do it, anyone can!

Gallery...try it, you'll like it!

Did you make the /temp/ directory?

Gallery (the php application) has a very good set of forums where you can get expert help. I'd recommend you check with the experts.

Where it says put the path to the temp directory. I did 8 different ways. I first put a directory on my pc, that didnt work, i made 5 diff directories on my server, that deosnt work. How do you do it?

yes I downloaded this appliction. But it doesnt include a lot of the files that are required, like what is it... uhmmm imagemagik? and something else...

I've never used Frontpage so I can't help. But I can recommend a very good photo gallery application. "Gallery" is free, looks good, and reasonably easy to set up. I've got Gallery set up on several of my websites (see link in signature). Their page is at http://gallery.sourceforge.net/
