    <description> &lt;p&gt;Not knowing if Apache or IIS is sued on the server, I would have to guess at this, but normally it is common for the error page configuration to require a certain file type. Contact your host and ask when error page types are supported.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If you can only use HTML, you can use a meta refresh to another page, or a javascript code to redirect them to an error.shtm page from an error.htm&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;Um.. IE displays its own friendly error messages if the file size of the error is less than 10K.&lt;/p&gt;
