sounds like you'd need a computer on location, although you may be able to set something up where they can call in when they are opening/closing through fax phone software.

ok, well i would have done that, except its a business where it depends on the weather (rainy=closed, sunny, warm=open)

Better just to list your store hours and let them order from the online store even when you are closed. You can then fill the orders in the morning. Don't stop your website from doing work 24/7

If they have a fix schedule it is quit easy to do by checking the time it is now and check on the schedule if the store is open.

oh i'm sorry i didnt explain myself!

i guess what i'm trying to say is that an open of store/close of store kind of thing, like the sign in the window, but online. depending on what this program/button/whatever-else-it-might-be says ("Open" or "Closed"), it displays on the site's main page

You mean that you want the website to be updated by transactions at the actual store? (ie- quantity of an item)

I don't see how this is plausable without a computer on location. And even then, the ideal arrangement would require the registers to update the database after each purchase.
