Another good reason is that all the useless code WYSIWYG put in youre page affect you're site ranking on search engine.

I disagree with this somewhat, you can have a hand coded site that does worse than a WYSIWYG created site because it's down to knowing how to optimise the site rather than how it's coded.

When i learned html there was almost no WYSIWYG and waht i learned then still serves me now when the WYSIWYG you are using is going to get a new version or you are going to another one then you'll have to start from scratch.

Another good reason is that all the useless code WYSIWYG put in youre page affect you're site ranking on search engine.

Because coming technologies are based on current technologies.

Of course you can still be a good html coder even if you don't know the machine code underneath.

It helps to be literate but the people I know who make the most money aren't the best coders, they're good salespersons.

I agree! I use DW but I can also code by hand as well. It is often quicker to do things by hand and there are often times that WYSIWYG programs don't do what you want them to!

Because you can get a whole lot more out of a WYSIWYG when you know what it's trying to do. There's nothing wrong with using them, but you'll be able to do so much more if you know the code. It's also a whole lot easier to troubleshoot.

Because programs usually input useless coding for example I know that for dreamweaver sometimes it puts in tags in the and you don't really need it.

Another reason is that you have much more flexibility when you can hand code things because there will be somethings that programs cannot figure out for you.

Because there will be times when you will absolutly need to work with the code by hand, and you need to know what things are, how they work, and why.

Because if you don't learn why the tools work, you will always be at the mercy of those who know more than you.
