Thanks for all of the suggestions; I really appreciate it.

As for the links, the ones that aren't underlined are on the nav bar, and I thought that most people would realize that nav bars generally have links on them (particularly webmasters).

I'm not sure if I'm going to continue this project, but if I do my first priority will be original content, then I'll worry about the design (I do plan on narrowing the nav bar).

Thanks again.

I think you need different coloured links or at least keep them all underlined (some are, some aren't), the links blend with the text to much.
Can you make the left column shorter, it's over 2/3's of the size of the content (middle section) on 800x600. it's that graphic at the bottom thats causing it (your ad here).

I agree with the others it looks a bit plain, and the logo looks too dark.

I must also re-iterate what was said to nuke...What makes this site any different from the thousand other webmaster resource/tech web sites out there? What is your unique selling point?

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Liam.

I agree with the others, the logo is a little too blue, its seems out of place, maybe keeping it more in line with the links headings colour might help. apart from that your site is quite easy on the eyes, but the navigation is a bit confusing, with links here and there..

I dont like that dark blue texture on the header image text. Couldn't you have that circular picture under the text instead of eating it away like that? Overall the site is quite good. The colours fit together well and the three columned layout may be overused but it still looks good!

Where are your metatags?? 50% of search engines still use them to gather information about your website. http://www.silonetwork.com/tools/metagen.php

You are missing your doctype definition (DTD) at the top of your page. Go here to get the code: http://www.silonetwork.com/tools/doctypegen.php

Make sure you add alt tags to your images. This is very important for a number of reasons including search engine optimisation and people with disabilities.

I think you need to put more than just news articles on the homepage... how about some sort of blog/site news content, keeping users updated on the latest things you add to the site...?

i agree that the logo is difficult to read because of the texture thats been applied, that would need changing.

I actually think that the 3 columns thing is kinda hard to escape from with sites of this nature, ie ones generated server side, because well they all tend to include the same 'text and links' format of information. Thats fine really, alright its not very original, but sites are about content as well as design, especially when its a resource site. Even if its a webmaster site, its to help the designers do a better job, doesn't mean their own site needs to look the business to though. This sort of format, when done correctly, is very easy on the eye and you can see what is what immediately. Fair enough, its a clichéd design but it works

Welcome to TWF & thanks for reviewing some of the other sites

My first thought is the logo, it does nothing for me and the texture on the words just makes it hard to read and the font could perhaps be a bit more unique but it's more the texture that puts me off it.

As for the rest of the layout, it's boxy & three columns - so are many, many other sites so there is nothing to make this one stand out, plus it's blue/grey so again common. You need to make yours different, if not with content then by design.

Good start though
