New one looks more professional to me (quieter color scheme, map makes immediately clear what area it covers, search box near top, etc.)

I think you've got too many columns, tho, and your body text is too small. If I wanted text that small, I'd reset my $@%*& browser!

How about making one wide center column, widening the RH column a bit, and adding more content vertically? A tag line under your site's name ("free real estate listings" or whatever -- give your site's unique draw feature, purpose, etc.) would really help clarify what the site's about.

Bigger text entry boxes would help, too.

Jakob Nielsen's book Homepage Usability: 50 Websites Deconstructed is an excellent resource -- I recommend it.

It's busy, but I like it... you made busy look good. I like #2 a lot... rock on. Make the top menu go all the way across rather than shorter than the top... you know what I mean? Also, add a submit button to 'seller log in'.

the orange is too colorful. text is too small on both. first one text is too close to edge on left side. blue and white text on second one very hard to read. the first one has too much info in one area, the second one is more spaced out, i like the spaced out. the search needs improved, doesnt work when i filled out 1 dollar min price (maybe 1 pound, but 1 whatever) says please fill out at least one field, i did. you should make it simpler, have price ranges like 10-20,000 30-50,000 etc. dont give people too many choices. have a drop down list of town names. and size? what is that measured in acres, feet, meters, hectares? ive got no idea. size BIG small Grande Pequeno ????? i don't think you need the date listed on that blue bar. i tried searching some towns for property to rent, couldnt find any, id add some properties. on some pages, there isnt a blue box at the bottom of the screen, on some there are. thats all for now -Josh

ok, basically what i want to know is? is the second one a proffesional design? i.e. would u treat this site as a business and not think an indivdual was behind it?

do u think i should redesign a 3rd?

because if so, i will stick with the second one as i need to tighten the backend up and i might aswell redesign at the same time.

If you have a larger res screen and you want to test the browser at a smaller res type this into your browser: javascript:resizeTo(800,600) and that will show you what it looks like.

I prefer the colours on the first one but again like Sonia there are bits from the second one which I like. The map helps by showing straight off that it the UK the properties are in, although I tried to click on it thinking it would be links to parts of the country. I prefer the layout of the search on the second one and the links at the top.

If it was me I'd keep the colours/layout of the first but incorporate the new features of the second design.

Good work

Hmmm....this is a hard choice. I like parts of both.

#2 has a horizontal scroll.

As andy206uk said, you have content all over the place. It is a wee bit busy. (but i sorta like to)

I do like how you have the links across the top in #2 and the three sections (HOMEBUYER OFFERS JOIN HOMEFINDA BUYERS NEWS FOR EXISTING SELLERS) with the dotted lines above and below. Nice touch.

#2 might be workable if you rearrange a few things and place the contant more verticle instead of horizontal. (if that makes sence) And also add a bit of color.

One thing you could do (#2) is move what you have on the far right over to the left. Then place the search box and that blue image below the other content.

Keep working with #2 or add part of it to #1 and I think you will have a winner.

Sonia

Hmmm... i think i prefered the original to be honest! It was fresh, simple and uncluttered.

The new one seems to have content all over the place and you havent specified a background colour in the body tag so I just get a grey background (which looks strage, because your logo's on a white background!)

Sort the background colour out, and i'll have another looksie!
