but in my defence I do know a lot of people still using IE4 & 5 but they don't know the difference between a modem or a mouse

Good point, I have to fix the Atomz' template, thanks! Also, Busy pointed out off forum that it looks a mess in IE5. I know the boxes are boxes (no round edges), which is fine, that's a minor display difference because I'm using proprietary (heh) code for the rounded edges (-moz css).

However, the list doesn't display inline in IE5. This is a failure to support CSS in IE5, and I think for this site, I will say that's okay, as the site is still viewable, just not quite as pretty, and I can live with that for now.

Does anyone have the stats on IE5? Is Busy the last holdout?

I'm guessing you're viewing with a monitor larger than 800x600, and using full-screen? I've debated this issue with myself repeatedly -- here's the problem:

1. I want it to work at all smaller resolutions without causing scroll.
2. I want the navigation to come after the content when it gets squished, not the content after the navigation (and skip links I'm not happy with).
3. I use the site daily (for the links on the right) and keep my browser window at 800x800, unless someone makes me open it larger, to keep forums, et cetera at a reasonable line length for reading.

Now, if I arranged it otherwise, I would be forcing scroll for smaller resolutions (and viewers). Suggestions welcome on how to achieve it so it's reasonable at stupifying resolutions in full screen as well!

The links? Not a problem, they are there for those (me) who wish to use them, they aren't part of the content of the site, though a number of people use the links on per-section basis, when they are seeking specific information.

There isn't anything in the wishlist that is for business purposes. But I do see your point. Everything in the wishlist is really stuff that I wouldn't buy for myself (or through my business), because I already have the tools I need and use for the business, and I tend not to buy things for myself unless I actually NEED them. I'm a bit of a miser that way.

But I will go through and be a little more critical of that section, thank you.

Opera: yes, the menu doesn't work (yes we have no bananas?) in Opera, or not as intended, anyway. There is a link at the top for Opera users (or the curious) that toggles it to open all the menus or close them all. Not what I would like to have, but it was the best solution I could devise at the time. Suggestions for a better approach?

Font used: Julia, I am using Georgia for the main text, and Arial for the headings, Verdana for the small links (navigation and offsite menus). I'm guessing it's Georgia you don't like, can you confirm? Also, I'd be interested in what you don't like about it.

Links: I don't control any links on my sites. It's up to the user to determine where the links will end up (same window, new window, new tab). I use tabs all the time, and they supercede new window targets (thankfully), but don't do much about javascript windows that aren't usable (nothing in the href). Er... I'm getting on a rant, sorry!

Sons: both are impossibly cute, if I do say so myself, in a totally unbiased way. Yup.

Thanks very much for the feedback so far, I'd love to hear some suggestions or what worked for you when faced with similiar problems.

Generally very nice, fresh, open and clean but sparse. I'm not overly keen on the font used and your external links open in the same browser window. As you can see I'm picking for the sake of picking!

Why I would be honored to critique your site. It just happens to be one of my favorites around.

For some reason, when I open up "My Wishlist", the menu hi-tails it to the bottom.(below the content but still on the right side). it doesn't do it with any of the other menu sections. And when you close your wishlist, it pops back up where it is suppossed to be. That is in IE6. Doesn't do it in Mozilla. Menu doens't work in Opera 6.05. I am sure you are already aware of all that though.

I don't see a problem having your business stuff on your personal site. Just not personal stuff on a business site.
