Megan gave some excellent references but I thought I would add CSS and Netscape 4.xx Issues from the CSS Shark.

Here's another one (cleaner), that just lists which version starts support for various elements in the two major browser streams. No listings here for alterna-browsers either:

http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_reference.asp

Also, in case anyone's interested, here's a detailed report on support for CSS-2 (alterna-browsers are listed):

http://www.xs4all.nl/~ppk/css2tests/

Yes - to a point. Basic things with fonts and such work fine. You should be able to find a chart that lists which elements of CSS are supported - I'll do a quick look around and see if I can dig one up for you.

Here's one:

http://www.westciv.com.au/style_master/academy/browser_support/index.html

There used to be a neater one at webreview but that site is gone now. This one's a little outdated (no Opera 6/7, Konquerrer, safari etc.).

You'll note that NS 4.x's support for a lot of elements is buggy or partial - you'll have to test everything you do just to make sure.
