yes, it seems everyone wants to learn and use director, and they offer it at my college. However it has not made a real big impression on me, a user. I have yet to see a director movie because everytime I go to such a site a window pops up and askes me if I was to install shockwave..I always click "yes" and then my browser proceeds to crash on me.

I have never returned to a shockwave site after this happens. I find it very imposing to have some program get in ur face asking if you want to install something or not before u have a chance to look at the site!

I have to use shockwave for the tutorial CD's I own. But it seems the version I have on my computer gets into a conflict with the version the browser tries to install and wants me to either uninstall my old verson or crash my computer.

But I have been told director is the thing to learn so I will plan on learning it.

Interactive Shockwave-3D games and movies are getting popular. Look into it.

(Sorry, I have no links - I've only read very little about it. Check with Google.)

i dont think it's dead, i think there's still plugins but it's been a good 2 years since i've touched it. to my knowledge nothing has replaced it.

search for cosmoplayer, which is, or was, the vrml plugin.
