Chad and I are the only two with full access. Chad is taking a leave of absense due to life's other time consuming obligations.

I probably read the suggestion the day it was posted, as I check the forums quite frequently (several times daily). I didn't reply because I didn't know you were expecting one.

I haven't done much of anything to the site lately because I'm a lazy bumb and had expected vBulletin 3 to have been released sooner than the process is going. vBulletin 3 has recently been given to a small beta testing group. After that, there will probably be a public beta, then release candidates, untill we finally reach a 'stable' version. Odds are I will wait for the 'stable' version before upgrading the forums here.

I had some free time earlier this week and planned to upgrade these forums to vB 2.3.0, but the version is still marked as 'Release Candidate 3'. I may still make that upgrade before changing to vB3. This really depends on my time availability.

I don't plan on making any changes to the style/theme/layout untill I upgrade the forum software. I did make those first changes to the About Us page because it was a comparatively short task (to upgrading software).

hey Suzanne - thanks for the response - I simply was looking for an acknowledgement that y'all were aware of my suggestion related to the search button - no one posted here for what, five days, after I put it up - I know how things can get lost in the forum shuffle - I suppose I could have started a new thread, but it's really no big deal

the response you did make, "I can't edit," led mme to believe you may have misunderstood what I was referring to - maybe you thought I was talking about the additional suggestions I made regarding "about us" - I hadn't even looked until just now to see if they'd been acted on - in fact I had trouble mmyself even finding them in this thread

seems like another electronic miscommunication - I admit I stumble into those with considerable frequency - not so purrfact after all, despite the elevated opinion some may have of mme

Well, as I see it, you have two options -- wait patiently for the person who has access to make the changes (not the moderators) to see this thread and make the changes if he sees fit, or you can email him and suggest that he review the thread.

Your suggestions have been noted by me, but that's not going to get you very far, since I don't hold the power to make them happen.

I think mmy suggestion would probably involve a little graphics and design/coding work - don't see the need for editing

you again say,"send an email" - not sure I understand - isn't this board here for suggestions regarding the forum? - in mmy last post, I didn't ask why the suggested change wasn't made - I just asked for a response

I just realized I stopped by right before Christmas to spread some holiday cheer - didn't get much of a welcome back after being away for six months - and I got the feeling I had somehow killed the thread

hey - I've got another suggestion - when I was looking to do an advanced search, I couldn't find the link - figured it "oot" pretty easily, but would it be possible to change that first link on the left in the menu to "advanced serach" - dunno if you could expand the whole thing more to the right without having "logout" offscreen at 640, but...

I see yer point about "social pleasantries" - I figure I'm just not much of an "electronic communicator" - stuck in mmy face-to-face ways, I suppose

I certainly accept and appreciate yer apology - but fwiw, I really do think people tend to get a little defensive regarding criticism of their writing - I think I always look to come across as making friendly and constructive comments, but I feel I get a lot of negative reactions - like I'm acting "superior" or, ya might say, "public[ly] pointing ... fingers"

I kinda lost track of you all when you had that problem with the domain

I've been involved in a business project for a few months - no financial returns yet, but a significant investment of time - I occasionally post in the political discussion section at SitePoint, so that takes up some of mmy forumming time - I worked briefly for a print publisher - I was determined to take on the mission laid out for mme by the company's regional manager when I was hired (and called for in the employment manual) - but I ran into the "this is how we do things here, screw the clients" culture that prevailed in the office and ended up getting fired - the ax came from a new office manager who made a great speech to the staff his first day, saying we would "give the customers what they had a right to expect, not what they were foolishly accepting" - called me into his cubicle that same day and told mme he thought I was the only one in the group doing mmy job - fired me four days later - I can't really blame him in a way - he found out that things just weren't gonna change (and neither would I) and went with the flow - a career naval officer - they wire it into ya

anyway, can't say I'll be around much (hey, wipe away those tears, now ) - but whenever I need to breath in some fresh pine-scented air and hear a babbling brook, I may just take a drive up to The Great North Woods fer a visit, eh?

My apologies, mmi, I didn't mean anything contrary. You haven't been participating in the last few months, so it's the first word that many new members on the boards have seen from you.

I'm sure your suggestions are welcome and appreciated (as you can see they are also implemented).

Hopefully you will take my partially tongue-in-cheek nudging for what it is, as well -- how about saying "hi! I've been away!" and then getting into the fixes. Social pleasantries and all that, they go a long way, even more than six smilies. And you're very right, though, this forum does invite all manner of commentary.

As for the "just get out" comment, I meant it as it sounds -- out of schooling, a contract, an obligation, a job? You've been away for a bit. Where have you been?
