Creativity is something that can be cultivated.

For instance the way I would start searching for a logo is of course with the words. Use a Theasaurus.

I would also consider something 3D. The logo you have designed is flat. Is that the best decision? I'm not saying yes or no just posing a question.

Are there relationships in the forms of the letters and images that you can exploit?

Will the logo work when it's very tiny? (here I would suggest reduction of the edges to simpler forms)

On color. Will the colors you choose work with the colors of other designs you produce?

Look at some logos for giant corporations.

Yeah, I just threw those colors in, just cause I was tired of just seeing it in B&W.

I think I'm going to just settle on this as a logo. It will work.

Next week, I'm sure I will be having to resist my temptation to change it again..lol

I'm not overly keen on the pinky colour, especially on the blue as it looks too washed out, but I do like the logo as a whole and the sun colour has come out well.

That design was my first attempt...back when I didn't care so much about it all. Now I'm at a place where I really want something I can be proud of. Since I know this will be a pretty big undertaking (TortillaBoy.com alone has about 360 html documents), I don't want to have to do this again....that is why I'm going to do it in PHP using includes.

Anyway, I have decided to focus on #4, making it a little simpler and "tighter", but basically keep that layout. Also, color scheme...the fun part! lol

As I alluded earlier in this thread, your logo is indeed something to be taken seriously.

Perhaps I should defer to Megan. You should make every effort to insure that your logo works. I happen to think that design #4 best fits the "flavor" of your site based on my intimate familiarity with it living in Texas and the southwest United States. You must decide which design will be represent you for now and the future.

I notice, TB, that you're using this design on your subpages:

I'm sorry but, IMO, that design definately looks out of place.

Anyways, you've got an interesting site there and I hope you can reach a decision that works best for you on the logo issue!

I don't know, I think that designing a logo is a pretty serious project. You're presumably going to be using this little piece of art to identify yourself and your business in all types of media. Once it becomes your identity you won't be able to change it easily. I think that it's a good idea to spend considerable time and effort on a logo. Think about whether you'd be comfortable with any of these mock-ups representing you into the future. If you're not, then you'll have to keep working.
