phpbuilder.com has a high traffic forum that is dedicated strictly to PHP programming. The newbies section is a really good learning resource. I learned from a book "PHP visual quick start by Larry Ullman"

Previous is actually a big list with a dropdown that sorts by category.

I was using IE5, all the pages have is "this week", "previous week", "news" and "mailing list" - search then default size and bigger text - 4 articles with no other navigation (except about, contact, hosting ...)
I saw the search, but if you dont know what the site is about you dont know what to search for. and they hide the status link so hard to trust.
cheers for the content link, found the forum (message board) is there a listing of all topics? I keep getting lost

Cruising through, looks like their search is busted, and the forums for the javascript switcher that contained the php switcher information are dead. ARGH.

GOOGLE.

No navigation?

Busy, you're not viewing that in N4.x, are you?? The navigation should be at the bottom, I think, in N4.x.

You can look at past issues, or better, search for your topic. http://www.alistapart.com/stories/ is the full list, the search field is right on the top right of the front page.

The forums are linked from the bottom of each article and are specific to each article.

hotscripts etc is good once you learnt the basics, download a script or two (go for small things like counter, ramdom banner ...) and learn from the code as you would with HTML

Suzanne - how do you get to the forums on alistapart? I've always thought that site was just a newsletter type thing with a few articles about stuff which are really hard to find from the outside (no naviagtion)

The wrox books on the topic.

check out online php scripts and how they work, play around with them, and read some of the feedback from php articles at alistapart.com in their forums.
