I think they would probably combine them into one somehow, based on the FP interface. Of course, you wouldn't have such handy things as "Clean up word HTML" and probably many more of DW's code-friendly utilities. Of course, MS wouldn't want you to be writing cross-browser code, so DW's capabilities in that way would be compromised too. I'm not sure what they'd do with DW's standards support & validator ... I wouldn't be surprised if they dumped it though.... just pessimistic speculating

I think they'd jack up Dreamweaver and make it into a WYSIWIG version of InterDev (similar to DW's PHP capabilities). And they'd strip it of PHP, just to eliminate all support for the competitor.

Oh, totally. This is why I promote the use of alterna-browsers. Doing my bit for the good of mankind Mankind on the web anyway. We can't just stand by and let them take over.

Could you imagine what MS could do to MM's products though? MM has been so great about catering to developers' needs - MS would just throw that out the window, not to mention standards support and general overall quality. Makes me mad just thinking about the possibility!

When MS takes over MM they have full web dominance, which is IMHO not good. Not because of the fact that I have something against MS (they do some good things too), but I think web dominance isn't 'compatible' with the idealistic ideas of the founders of the net.

Actually, I wouldn't be all that shocked if it happened. I would hope that MM would have more integrity than that but I guess that's how business is. The only part of the web that MS doesn't have it's teeth in is Flash...

I doubt it would happen, but you just never know these days.
As long as MS loose the right to have their operating system install on new pc's they will fade out (it wont happen over night) and we will start to see some real competition with browser and standards support ... bring it on
