motherboard switch

Well, I was going from a asus a7a to a DFI motherboard.

But this has happened before, it does not seem to matter what motherboards I am switching to.

I keep the same memory as well.

Its a 2000pro running IIS 5.0. The error screen happens during the
"Starting Windows 20000" screen.

I set all the heads/cyl, etc to be exactly the same as with the old motherboard.

What I have ended up doing is backing up the wwwroot folder, in another partition and just format the c partition, install everything, and just copy and paste the wwwroot folder.

If I backup the web onto a cd, it gives much more problems because the web has been changed to "read only" and have to follow a sick procedure from microsoft, which involves deleting windows files, changing attributes to others and much more fun than ever wanting.

You can generally get away with changing a motherboard in 98. Just delete the Enum key in the Registry and let 98 detect all of the new devices. NT has no plug and play so you can't do this. 2000 or XP, you can sometimes get away with this. If it is a Server, forget about it. You need to reinstall NT from scratch and move all of the data.

Can we have more info...

old vs. new motherboard?

using new RAM?

When does the blue screen appear? I'm assuming windows does boot. If windows boots, then the motherboard does see the hard drive.
