Blue would be a better background colour since it's associated with water, and that animation at the top is quite useless there :S

The navigation border is too 'bold' or too think, change it to 1px or something, with a different background colour to make it 'stand out'

Probably could do with a few less advertisments or spread them out around the site :S

The coding looks ok for a hand coded site btw

It's not bad for a first site! Unfortunately it does look like a first site with the table borders on and centered text, etc. As busy says go to similar sites and just generally sites you like and note down what you like about them, get some paper and sketch out a layout based on your findings and then work out what goes where and translate that to your webpage.

You need a logo, not just html text in big. Get a graphics program and download some different fonts & dingbats and type out your sites name in different fonts and pick one you like, add a relevant dingbat and voila, you have yourself a logo.

The animation, although obviously relevant, does get very annoying and cheapens the site. I'd prefer to see some photos instead and maybe incorporate them with the logo to make a header to the page with the columns for the links and main text below it.

Links are ok if you can blend them in instead of having a link library type thing.
A good base is to find similar sites like what you want and note why you like them, what makes you want to click on the links etc, get ideas but dont steal layouts etc.

This is a quiet time of year for everyone, usually you'd get a few more responces, they will come.

Thank You for the advice I knew I had work to do,now I know what needs to be done,I will spice it up with more colors and more information,and just stick with the banners I have,i'll re-post in a week's time to get more feedback......

I think you should change the colours, black and white are bland and don't relate to the topic, unless you can beef it up with other colours. also some of the images your using are made for light backgrounds.
You need more of a theme, the animated fisherman is a start but you need to add colour and flow into it. (if that animation stops it's good, if not its bad, i think its good)
At the moment it looks like your just trying to make a quick buck with the links, maybe you are, maybe your not either way you have to make it interesting and informative. your first paragraph offers so much but you deliever nothing. Fishing is big all over the world so you have the right target, just have to try keep your visitors at your site then spend some money, once your visitor rate goes up you could add a forum, advice column, picture gallery of fish, rigs, boats ... and if you want to go all out offer a for sale section. The point is its up to you what you offer and how you offer it but if people can trust you or your site they wont spend money, you need to produce a friendly feel.
