Great idea and good user friendliness although i do have to admit to wearing sunglasses whilst viewing!!!A deeper tone of red would be sleeker, more inviting and less straining on the eyes.

It's now more than a month later and I've just begun to think about revisions on this site. I still plan on darkening the red color and some of the other changes mentioned earlier in this thread but right now I'm looking for some general layout advice on the front page.

I'm just looking for some advice on how to layout the content. I would change all that text over the red cells in a white font and ignore the little graphics I put in there for now. In general it just looks like a bunch of boxes to me. And several of the boxes end up with wasted space. Do I need to make the boxes more subtle? Are the red bars to big and distracting?

I'm also considering changing the left column so maybe I can put some of the thinnner content under the menu and make it a three column look with a lot more text in the middle. I'm just thinking out loud but let me know if anybody has any ideas for organizing the content in the main white area?

I agree on the bright red also. It's a bit too much.

I was a little unsure about the rounded corner on the left and square corner on the right but it is unique. Not too crazy about how you have the navigation in that little bitty box. Looks like it is sorta just "hanging out on a limb". Not bad though....just bugs me for some reason.

Have you considered making the 9-11 ribbon at the bottom a little smaller? It looks big and lonesome down there with all that while space around it. Nice touch though.

Maybe a secondary set of nav links at the bottom would help fill the space. ???

The red was chosen because it's the school color but maybe I should darken the shade slightly.

And Abhishek Reddy mentioned the different width in the forum. Yup. I made the whole site with a header and footer and then when I installed the forum it didn't quite fit right in the constrained size so I had to make a new variable width table (which is now also used in the directory too). When I get around to fixing things up (like the colors) I'll switch everything to the variable width table to make it consistant.
