Yeah, but it's just not worth it for a $100 printer you know. Even if it's fixed, it can't do the job I want it to do.

I'm sorry to hear that, but I've never had similar problems and they must be decent as Dell uses them almost exclusively now. Didn't you have some sort of warranty where you could get your money back? Did you contact support? Their support has also been very helpful to me in the past.

It's been everything I wanted and I have no complaints with it. If you want a color one, it obviously jacks the price up quite a bit. Another one I've been look at is the all-in-one: http://www.lexmark.com/US/products/overview/0,1224,MTgzOHwx,00.html

I did actually check that page and compare those two printers. The reason I decided on the Brother one is because...

1. I have no idea what line-art is and the Brother printer is better at gray-scale graphics.
2. It's a little bit faster
3. I don't need to feed it 650 pages since I don't print that much and if I need more the Brother one has an addon you can buy that handles 250 more pages.
4. The brother printer weighs 7 pounds less (I hate lifting heavy stuff )
5. A friend has the Brother one and he's extremely happy with it and highly recommended it to me.

But! One of my friends in the hardware department said he could get me a laser printer cheaper than the store prices. He'll get back to me in the next few days since I called him at 10pm and he didn't have the prices.

The brother is okay. It's quite similar to the Samsung. I tend to prefer the Samsung. I guess since I don't have a good perception of the companies products. Here is a review of some lasers where both did well.

I think I found the printer I'm going to buy. It's a Brother HL-1450. Anyone have any experience or know anything about Brother laser printers?

It's a difficult choice. There are also Epson, Canon and Brother printers that look pretty good. I don't want a low-end $100 laser printer, but a reliable one for $300-$500.

I would personally stay away from the low-end HP line. They are junk. The best low-end in my opinion is the Samsung. Something like the ML-1430 is about the best laser for the money.
