Stand Alone Versions

Also, Ryan Parman has been nice enough to hack stand-alone versions of a few of IE's older incarnations. Try these if the above tutorial seems a bit too complex.

Even though this post is ancient I'm replying anyway.

You can run two versions of IE. Go to the fantastic browser archive/graveyard at evolt.org to get an older version and check out this tutorial on how to install it .

You have to get your hands a bit dirty to do it, but it should work like a charm (and a web designers dream!). And you don't even need two monitors!

First of all,you cant install IE5 if you already got IE6 installed unless you partition your hard drive then you can boot from either or.Bets best is to get you another tower and hook it up with a switch so you can use 1 monitor,if your only testing, you wont need a top of the line pc.

Came across these sites that have programs that allow you to install several operating systems, so would allow different versions of IE. They aren't free however

You can set up a different partition, install the OS on that partition, and install IE in that partition on the new copy of the OS.

Usually it's easier to have multiple machines. I have beta testers with multiple machines and we exchange beta testing so we don't have to all buy extra computers. The added advantage of this is you get different monitors, different internet connections and different resolutions as well.

There is no way to run two versions of IE as they intergrate themselves with the OS
