    <description> &lt;p&gt;Yeah, some hosts require you do reference includes as .shtml, others .html, .htm, or even .txt. When I&#039;ve switched hosts, my includes didn&#039;t work until I change their extension. It&#039;s basically trial-and-error.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;It&#039;s probably got something to do with how your server is configured - your host may not have configured the server to accept .shtml documents, but rather to have .html files parse SSI&#039;s.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;P.S.  why were you naming your file nav.html&lt;strong&gt;f&lt;/strong&gt;?
