Thanks all for the warm welcome and I have not had a chance to try your suggestions but I will as soon as I can. Once again thanks and I am sure I will be asking more questions soon lol. Hey jammin cool to know there is some one in the same area as I am. Do you know if BSU offers a web master associate degree or something of that effect? For the past several months I have been messing arround with the web site. Started out with yahoo and they sucked moved to a bigger site with full controll panel access and cgi_bin and now I am hooked thinking about making a carrer change.

                                            Thanks friends: Paul

Yes it's going to be tough if you're using a big photo or something like that. Ideally you'd have a graphic of some sort that has a solid colour background at least around the edges in a web safe colour, which you could then match with a bgcolor value so you wouldn't see a harsh line between the background image and the rest of the page background.

Welcome to TWF Paul,

What Megan says above is the best way of doing this but can you let us know the url of the site so we can have a look and see if there are any other suggestions depending on the type of background it is?

The first option is to make your background large enough so that it won't tile at larger resolutions. Of course, in most cases this can create very large file sizes, so the other option is to use CSS, like this:

Just put that in the header of your document - it should prevent the image from tiling, at least in modern browsers that support that property (I'm not sure if NS 4.x supports that, if it doesn't it would be the only commonly used browser out there that would have problems with this)

Edit: forget what I just said - NS 4.x does support background-repeat so you should have no problems with that.
