Performance/Scalability is a biggy with me. Price isn't an issue with me as I'm getting a friend to host me on his OC3 . Ease of Use would come second, followed by security and Easily interfaces with my server code.

I voted for Performance/Scalability. I've not wandered into ecommerce yet, so I can rig my own security (with the exception of secure transition between client and server). Being solely a programmer, I don't have to handle the hosting/cost situations for clients. I just have to deal with what they have, so I want a box that I can make bend over backwards.

I guess that comes under Price, because if money is no object, and the DB ain't installed, you can buy a new server or get it installed...

And if you're a newbie, and again, price isn't an issue, you will be able to afford a tech to install the DB for you.

I voted for price. I have a wallet thinner than Bill Gates's book "How to Code a Robust Operating System" steamrolled X times, where X = (the_number_of_dollars_Gates_is_worth * 100000).
