The main thing I think you're missing here is a visual impression of what Labuan is like. A photo of the island would be a great help.

I also agree that some more colour would be a great addition. Definitely make your links coloured and/or underlined so they stand out as such - a lot of newbies would probably be unsure as to what is and is not a link on this page. Make your navbar more obvious as well.

Speaking of the navbar, it doesn't look as if there's a whole lot of content on this site. I would recommend that you check out lonelyplanet.com - I find that this site is a great resource for researching other coutnries (briefly) - it could give you some ideas for what to include in your site. I also agree with Busy when he said that you could divide your site into three main areas based on the three topics mentioned in your mission statement.

I would also get rid of everything on the right column except the search - all of this is useless. Then move the left column to thee right side and lose the separate boxes. Design it more as a quick reference with bulleted points possibly.

I agree that you should try to lose the boxiness. I can see this page designed in bright colours (I'm thinking orange background...)- maybe you could keep some of the boxes, only try using more interesting colours. This could be risky though, so be careful.

You know, what you have here really doesn't look bad at all. I just feel that it could be a lot better, more unique, and more interesting.

First of all, you need to add some colour, even if its only to the Navigation Menu and the Headings. Secondly, I believe you need to sit down and rethink the navigation of your website, you just simply have an information overload on the front page!! After a quick look, I believe I could make an extra 3-4 pages out the topics on the front page!

I think you should break the contents down a bit, your mission statement is:
The main mission of this website is to establish a cyber community network among the locals through the Net, to become one stop information centre about Labuan as to promote Labuan to the world.

thats 3 main topics that could be seperate sections,
so maybe try sell Labuan first then include the stats of the place as a seperate page.
Things like the site poll are a waste of time, it distracts away from the information and results are never true (people dont like to be honest).

The site needs more flow, a few pictures etc

Sorry but your site is suffering from acute Boxititis...

Too many boxes spoil the broth and make my eyes water so you may want to try something else. I have a text heavy site as well but break it down into columns three across or using horizontal spacers to break the page up.

Bit too gray for my liking, makes things seem a little dull...

One other thing, I couldn't verify your site on the Golden Web Awards. If you are going to display awards then morally you should have been awarded them in the first place! I'm not being picky, I do this to most sites that display awards!!

PS - If you have won an award, sincere apoligies, I just couldn't find your URL or combinations of it

Alvinhan we do ask that you help out some of the others here and review some of their sites before requesting a critique fo your own, so if you could do that for us I'm sure they will be very grateful.

My initial thoughts on the site are that it looks very washed out, I think you need to introduce some more colour other than the grey, maybe use the blue in the logo for the links and a different colour for the hover. Maybe also add some pictures as it's a bit too text heavy IMO.
