My bar is double high with the normal windows links (Desktop, IE, mail, etc...) then the apps next to that. On the bottom I have my Home Folder, my website folder and the address bar. That's it...

I've done that too. Mine is 3 rows high. Another nice side effect is that in WinXP, the clock now shows the time, day, and date.

Hi David,

Something you might find useful is to drag & copy your new desktop shortcut onto the left section of the Taskbar [usually has a few default buttons there already, like Show Desktop, IE etc].

What I've done is raise my Taskbar to double height [just drag its top edge up] and added in shortcuts to all my frequent folders, programs, forums, games etc. They all live quietly on their own little Taskbar upper line, and open apps live as usual on the bottom line.

I find it very useful, as there's no need to minimize open apps to get at a desktop icon, or go thru the Start menu. You can drag the little icons around too to group things logically, and drop new ones into the right place.

Hi Marc...
In TweakUI there options to remove icons but not put them back...
Thanx for the idea anyway...
DavidJaymz

Okay, here's how to do it. Go to Start > Search > Find Files or Folders. Then, type "My Documents." Once the folder is listed, drag it onto the desktop, create a shortcut.

Do you have TweakUI? I know it can be removed through that so you might be able to add it, instead. I personally have mine removed as I don't use it.

sorry - I was unclear - a friend of mine has had problems getting to "My Documents" beacause he had created a shortcut (or something like that)

... I put a shortcut on my desktop for the folder but it doesn't have the same functionality as the 'real' link... It doesn't appear when you click save in that left hand column thingy...

    Thanx for the idea anyway
