I would get an optical Logitech or Microsoft.

My cousin is very satisfied with his Wacom Intuos. He paid around $300. He originally bought a 4x5, but a few years ago he upgraded to (I think) a 6x9.

thanks for the input, I had a gut feeling that I'd end up going w/ the Graphire2. even at 80bucks for the tablet and the mouse, its still a pretty great deal.

I just wanted to say that I have a Graphire 2 and I love it. I really don't notice a difference between it and the higher end tablets, and it's really handy to have the mouse included (rather than having a separate mouse & tablet and having to find room for both on your desk!)
