there was a javascript site search script that I found ages ago, but it is very painful to maintain and set up initially with all of the search references.

take the advice offered and either get a third party add-on or use a server side language to do a file system search or database catalog search....

I use FreeFind which have a free version which includes some ads or paid ad free versions. Easily customisable and very easy to set up, with instant indexing.

atomz.com is a great 3rd party solution for indexing straight files.

With all due respect, you really dont't want to do this!

To search with Javascript you have to create a template file for JavaScript to search through encompassing the page URL, title, description, keywords, etc...

This makes the process pretty laborious certainly if you have alot of pages or you update your site alot.

A better solution would be to add a free serch engine to your site like Spiderline which you can customize to a fairly high level to search your own site...

Good luck!
