meagrees with megan:) Thanks prof for the uh...perspective. Around here the number he needs to call is 627-LIFE, got some good folks who can clear up that time travel problem. The straight jackets fit just right too (all snug and comfy).

Tell Nurse Betty, a friend sent you.

Nice perspective TheProfessional

I think the general 'layman' version of the AoE beginning is the 15th century when mainly Spain & Portugal began it as an instrument of government policy.

Hope it's soon. I can hardly hold back my enthusiasm.

IMO the age of exploration would depend upon the time in which you ask it. For this day and age people may think of Christopher Columbus. But in my time 3184, I'm from the future, our thoughts of the great age of early exploration was way back when they were setting up space stations, sending craft beyond the Milky Way, and colonizing Mars and Uty345. Oh, that hasn't happened yet, sorry.
Anyways, back on my planet Spk50, which was colonized in 2698 before the abandonment of Earth, we are very thankful for early mans exploration of alternative planets to live on. And so you have our thoughts of the age of exploration.
To further stress the point, take for instance my friend Mackiam3. He is from the year 12792. He says the great age of exploration was when humans learned to expand their minds beyond their bodies and grasp concepts he says we could not comprehend in our present state of existence. I think he's a little weird because he's always talking so philosophical like. And I hate that he always knows what I'm going to say before I say it.
Well, I better cut this short. Communication with the past is monitored for us Jumpers and I could be fined as much as 12,000,000 credits. Keep this under you hats, ok. If you mention it, you may disappear like some of the others.

Oh that clears that one up then.

Actually, it is not so much the theme as the navigation. I'll post the prototype (so's you guys can rip it apart) soon.

IMO, AoE began way BC.

There was a lot of exploration/settlement/resettlement happening in Asia and the Middle East, and later Europe, around 3000BC to 500 AD. I guess you could say that the AoE "climaxed" around the 10th to 19th century, as DM said.

I'll take a wild shot at guessing how this is relevant: its got something to do with you coming up with a theme for a site about the "Age of Exploration"??

When I think of the Age of Exploration, the 14th century and Columbus comes to mind but then you had Erickson and the Viking dudes in the 10th century.

But....according to this TIME LINE it started way earlier than that.

What I am curious to know is how in the world does this have anything to do with web design??

It worries me when people say, "Trust Me". LOL
