Aletia reminds me of HostRocket a year ago - it's so funny when you compare the two. Anyway, Steven (the owner of InsiderHosting) is a GREAT guy! I talk to him regularly on AIM and he went to the trouble to help me transfer my MySQL database over to a new host when I asked for help on a forum. I'm not a customer and he didn't know me, but he really went that extra mile.

Aletia was an excellent host up till a couple of months ago. Since the beginning of March though, accessing our site at http://www.ai-hq.com has become a pain in the posterior unless it happens to be early in the morning. According to Aletia, the problem lies with some of their customers running scripts which soak up CPU time leaving almost no processing power over for other users. Whilst I appreciate that companies do experience problems of this nature from time to time, things seem to becoming worse rather than better just lately. It took me almost two minutes to download our HP on a fast ADSL connection yesterday morning and the site was offline completely the whole afternoon and most of the evening. Aletia's own site runs on a different server and of course that downloads almost instantly, so you tend to get a false impression that it will be a good company to go with.

I paid a year in advance and the current contract doesn't expire until 26th October this year. But unless they get their act together soon, I'll seriously consider transferring to another hosting service. For interested parties, this is Aletia's HP: http://www.aletiahosting.com

What kind of site do you run on them?
Is the bandwidth/speed good?
I think I'm going to host a few of my sites not on my server....
What was wrong with your other host?
