going thru outlook I have 6 hotmail accounts including the one that wont work. Dont think its a passport problem as I deleted one of the other accounts and reinstalled it all ok

how many hotmail accounts do you have? could it be a passport prob?

it wont download the folders, mostly get time out (after 15mins) or a "this action not supported by windows" or something like that.
It wont let me synchronize the folder

only thing I have done is changed the password (changed in outlook as well) so am guessing the old password is messing it up, kind of like the old one is stuck in memory but trying to use the new one.

If it gave me a proper error it would be nice, but sadly it gives nothing

So what kind of error are you receiving when you try to check your mail? Just wrong password? Go to Tools > Accounts > Properties > Servers and change it to your new password.
