I tried XP Pro first when it came out and didn't like it at all. At first everything looked new and interesting, but after a couple of days I changed everything to have it look like my old Windows2K settings. After a week, I formatted and installed Windows2K again. To me XP looked like a mix of 2K and 98 and I didn't like the 98 similarities at all.

XP Pro is not made for domain management. For domain management, you will need a server edition for which there is no XP server. You would need NT or 2000 Server to manage domains.

You can't join a domain at all with XP Home. With XP home, you could possibly access some domain resources but domain logon is not an option. Login scripts from the PDC or BDC wouldn't work at all with XP home. The only real option that you have with XP Home is a peer to peer network.

That isn't totally true.

XP Pro is made for domain management.

XP Home can be used in a domain enviornment and access domain resources, but I wouldn't reccommend it.

XP Home is made for small workgroup type situations < 5 computers.

XP Home does have NTFS. The main thing that it doesn't have is the ability to connect to a domain. Every OS since Windows 3.11 has the ability to connect to a domain except for XP Pro. Weird eh?

I have it! I'm wondering how different the Pro Version is from the Home version actually. You'd think that Pro users could do without the oodles of photo management junk. There are quite a few really annoying things that I don't like about XP but overall it's better than ME, for sure!
