The first one is rather neat but Busy makes an excellent point about content flow. I guess that if you have very tight control over that, you could pull it off.

I also like the second one although it could use some tweaking.

They are too different to compare really. Save the one you DON'T use for another project.

I would say No. 1 but again it does depend upon how the content is presented.

Very hard choice. They are both good in their own way but both have loads of blank space at larger resolutions which I feel is better if the design is centered. Without content it's hard to see how it would fit on #1 and for me although different it's too dark so I'm going for #2
What is that a picture of in #2??

I definately like the first one! I think it's because it's so different looking.

The second one is very nice, but it is a design I've seen many times before.

My vote is for #1 (http://www.yertz.com)
