oooooh, ouch. That kinda sucks. Well, trust me i am no basketball player, baseball, or pga tour professional. But you are right. Honestly, my friend has this big idea like he thinks he will make a boat load off this site, and I tell him, dude its not that easy. Its not simple to just throw a site together, get 200 ppl to hit it a day and actually get people to spend their money online so they can get advice when there are some out there that do it for free. I just wanted to get some pointers on to how this site could be put together, I actually don't think its worth it/possible.

just out of interest we have recently had a website here in Australia get in serious trouble. They set up a betting (horse racing) advice site. Problem was the people giving the advice were jockies who would then run in the race they had given betting advice on. I would suggest anytime you want to do a site invloving gambling etc. To consult a lawyer.

You'll have to place restrictions i guess for some countries as betting is illegal, also a age check system as betting age limits around the world differ, also some countries want you to pay tax on all winnings as these are considered earnings. you may want to run your idea by a lawyer to make sure you couldnt be liable for anything.

It sounds like you're thinking of a pretty complex site... If you don't have any web design experience, it's doubtful you'll be able to complete the site any time soon. Your best bet might be to consult a web design firm.

If you do choose to do it yourself, of course you're going to have to start with design/layout, and then either find a premade script (from cgi-resources.com or hotscripts.com) to do whatever backend job you need to do -- or you'll need to write one yourself.

I guess you could theoretically just setup a forum in a password protected directory... Setting up paypal on a web site shouldn't be very difficult, they should have instructions on their web site somewhere.
