I imagine so, but it seems kind of redundant if the post being moved is blatant spam. If it's a duplicate post or something, then it ought to be replied to AND then closed as a duplicate post often looks innocent without knowing why it was moved.

I don't think that you need to PM any mods. I would just hit the replyto on the spam, give the reason for and then shoot it over to purgatory. That way your PMailbox won't fill up but there will be an audit trail in case the move is questioned.

I'm also a mod on another webmaster site and in all except for the admin/moderator's forum I can edit/move/copy/delete any message.

Helps cut back on the spam and self-promos a lot.
