And that would be why, in another thread today, I said you shouldn't use 1x1 images, but at least 30x30 -- otherwise you see the background tile in...

well, sort of...

add a "2" to the end of the original URL:

http://www.newsurvey.com/radiobutton_bg2.html

You'll see a red "flash" on the screen as my white background image (1 pixel x 1 pixel) covers the screen and makes it white again.

Now I just have to decide if the flash is cool or annoying. If annoying, is it worth it since radio buttons now look better?

Any thoughts, gang?

Although it is a nice one, I think your solution is an equivalent of 'impossible'

Actually...

Netscape 4.x uses the page background colour, not the table cell or div or whatever the form is sitting in, to determine the bgcolor of the radio and checkbox elements.

SO! In order to make it not have the white box effect, you'd have to set your bgcolor to the colour of the thing the form is in. The only (horrible) way to do this is to have a background image (white) for the body, and set the bgcolor (or background-color if you're using CSS and you should) to whatever colour the thing your form is in is.

How's that for convoluted?

Suzanne

I don't think you can alter this in Netscape.

That's right. It's impossible :-/

That's because Netscape puts the radio button in a square block or border. I don't think you can alter this in Netscape.

Looks fine in Mozilla .9.7, though. And that's what counts
