hey - I think Suzanne's right - you get problems when using ad hoc measures to "push" things around where you want them on a pc display - of course there's the gamma thing, too - seems like if you can demonstrate a consistent x-platform display to this client, all should be well

there's probably a number of small annoyances - e.g., I can't find a character entity for fractions that displays on a Mac

If the site is coded to standards, you shouldn't have any problems. However, that said, there are some oddities, notably that some work arounds that people use to force users to see things don't work - ha ha!

Also, viruses don't work. ha ha!

So no, you don't need to build two sites, but you do need to test on both platforms. It's not any particular thing that causes problems, so much as a combination of things causing problems.

Well, the answer lies in the Web Browser and *not* the operating system.

What web browser will the site be viewed on? What features does Mac browser versions of IE not support? I think that all the latest browsers are the same accross the board - linux, mac and intel.

Have you taken a look at the MS web site? The Netscape, Opera, Mozilla web sites?

It is just a general website for the company promoting the MAC repairs/maintenance side of the business but they are worried about it being seen ok by MAC users for some reason and want reassurance that you don't have to build a special website just for them!

Is the website going to interact with various Applications on the system? Is it going to take advantage of server-side scripting languages?

I think the latest web browsers are all up to scratch whatever platform you're using. They all support the same standards - hence the whole idea of the WWW.

I suppose I should be asking what platform is this web site going to be running on? I can't see a problem with this at all though. It would go against the nature of the web to program code only for IE/Win32 instead of IE/Mac. They should both support the same standards - theoreticaly speaking.
