&lt;p&gt;I think the reason you cant print it is because its not an image, or at least not a complete image, if you paused it, or stopped it and went back you could possibly get one blury picture out of it.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;its like taking a photo off the tv, if the shutter speed is above, say 25,000th you can get a semi decent pic, anything under and all you get is a blur cause each frame isnt a complete picture, it takes over 5 frames to make one picture, but things are moving so it takes 5 more ... (5 is just an example, some take many more)&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;also like a animted gif, if ts only a couple of frames you can capture a frame, if its a fast mutli framed one you&#039;l probably get a blank image.&lt;/p&gt;

    <description> &lt;p&gt;You&#039;re right... I&#039;m not exactly sure of the reasoning behind this, but it is probably only applicable to windows media player... I believe that in order for it to work with browsers, they would have to code in a similar technique. Sorry I can&#039;t be of more help!&lt;/p&gt;
