5) NS compatibility - Okie this I knew I was going to get it bad with. this decision i had taken to make my site compatible with IE 5 or NS6.0 was one that I had wreestled with for a long time. I finally made it becuase there are so many features that IE and NS6.0 have that can make designing a website a lot more easier. I know I broke a covenant there but it was my first. All my other sites can be viewed by NS and IE any version. And I think it is bit too late for me to change that. Another reason that prompted this decision was that IE has taken over the market..I know I know..but I had to look at it as a way out. And i got sick of designing sites NS4.7 which had come to its natural end.

To me the big thing is the statement "Best viewed using IE 5.0+ browser and 800x600 resolution.". I don't really see anything there about using Netscape 6 or Opera. The only noticable thing is that the top border breaks up a little in Netscape 4.78. So why even have the a statement like that irritates people.

I am also not sure what you mean when you say that there are so many features that IE 5 or Netscape 6 supports that NS 4.7 doesn't. What are those features? Little things like hover color, colored scrollbars, etc. None of which you have and none of which cause problems, except being ignored, by NS.

Adding one thing to the other comments:

The graphics that make up your top navigation bar (about, advertise, etc) start to separate at resolutions above 800x600. The corner to the left of "about" has about a 5px gap at 1152x768

My only addition to what's already been said is that I would put at least a paragraph of text above the green/pink/blue section summarising what the site is about, get people's interest then they can look at other pages once you've hooked them.

thanks guys,

Couple of changes that I will be making shortly are:

1) Main Menu will be replaced by Home - Now why didnt I think of it.

2) Menu right bottom corner will be rounded off.

3) Oh well in regards to those pics ..I have a lot of difficulty in creatign round edges. I cant seem ot be able to do them using photoshop so i am using ulead. But yes they are fuzzy and I think a bit too compressed.

4) Menu items - Well i felt if they were spaced out they wouldnt look to clutered. albiet themenu is quite elongated.

5) NS compatibility - Okie this I knew I was going to get it bad with. this decision i had taken to make my site compatible with IE 5 or NS6.0 was one that I had wreestled with for a long time.
6) mmi - In regards to the grammer and the stuff you have pointed out will be making those corrections too. Thanks a ton for your help out there. And please feel free to nitpick even more!

Let's Make A Deal!!

hey Apoorva - I agree it might be a good idea to provide a little text on the front page to describe the site

not much to clean around here, let's see...

commas are often optional, but I think you should remove this one

Quote: You need to register, if you want to post

you place periods after F and A, but not Q - I'd probably remove them

I'd probably take "Question" out of cap cuz ya don't use it for any others

I'd probably delete the period in "Report misuse"

on Buyer - How It Works

To be able to post your auctions on bid2host.com, you need to...

Once your registration is authenticated, you may enter an auction in any of the following categories: virtual hosting, dedicated servers or colocation service.

In the auction, you should describe your web hosting needs in detail. The hosting companies need this information to give you an accurate quotation. Providing it will also help in arbitration if any confusion develops. Use the additional comments box to describe your specific requirements and goals.

When you end your auction (or when the time period of the auction expires), you choose your host.

Having chosen your host, you will be taken

add a space in "Amount="

the details of the auction and winning bid.

Once your credit card is verified, you will receive?

Due to stringent verification policies, this process

I'd spell out "five days"

give me a ring?? - but we've never even dated - this is so sudden

Once the service has been setup,

to "test drive" the service you purchased

During that period, if you decide you are not satisfied, your money

After the 5 days have elapsed,

Once the money is transferred, the Money Back Guarantee

a period after "comes into effect"?

starts the day your service is set up (two words as a verb)

During the Money Back Guarantee period, the amount returned is typically equivalent to

The setup fee is usually not refunded

I'll annoy you with more of this nonsense later if you like
------
hey - I reread your first post in this thread - I hadn't notice the comment about yer English - believe me, is's a lot better than many who use it as a first language, so don't take my picking of nits the wrong way

Hi arcmax,

The site loaded fast for me so I don't think I would worry about optimizing your graphics too much more. In fact, the 3 images (blue purple and green) that you have with the people in them look like they have been optimized too much. They have those little things in them that images get when you reduce them too much. Oh, I can't think of the name for this right off hand. Hope you know what I am talking about.

The other thing that I noticed right off were the jagged edges on some of your corners. And the three images that I spoke of above have fuzzy edges. It is tough to get that happy medium isn't it?

One other little nit pick is you have "main menu" in the little black section at the top. It really isn't right above the menu. Not really a big deal but just something that popped into mind as I was trying to "nit-pick". How about putting "Home" there since on all of the other pages you have the title of the page in that black area? that would make things more consistent.

The menu might be a bit confusing. Maybe move the Login section to the bottom of the menu but then again I am not sure aobut this.Your menu items seem like they should be closer together.

Why do you have two of the same banners with the warning message on it? I would loose the one at the top and do something creative there.
And maybe add a paragraph that tells a bit about the site.

Best viewed using IE 5.0+ browser and 800x600 resolution
Your going to hate me then cause I use Netscape 4.7, but I'll compare them for ya
In IE 5 there is a slight horziontal scroll bar, none in NS
Apart from the link exchange iframes and frame="hsides" and things there isnt much to make it "universal", the border="15" displays as a 15 pix table border in NS, but with bordercolor doesnt in IE.

Not sure if the blue, green, pink and blue work together, maybe fade the green, pink and blue a bit.

I like the way you seperated the top right banner.
Maybe add a rounded corner at the bottom right of the menu section to suit the rest of the layout
