Here is some links to Python tutorials. I would have to agree with the PHP consensus. Python is not a bad langauge to know and most hosts will have Python compiled on their systems. But here is some stats from Hotscripts.com

Python
3 - books
3- Magazine articles
40 - Scripts and programs
16 - Tutorials and tips
2 - Web sites

PHP
26 - books
35 - Magazine Articles
33 - Online Communities
2364 - Scripts and Programs
18 - Software and Servers
403 - Tips and Tutorials
105 - Websites

So if you get stuck with a bit of PHP, there are lots of places to find help. If you get stuck with Python, then there are few. Plus there are tons of scripts, code snippets, classes and libraries out there for PHP. PHP is also easier to learn and doesn't need to be compiled.

PHP here too.

I'm guessing that Peter is the one who voted for ASP. That would be my second choice.
