Thanks for making that quite clear.

I have tried to make a menu out of different pictures and faded images. I think I'll get there sometime in the future. Have to learn more first. I'm a self made man and have developed over the last two years.

eeeek a hard question

umm muted I was meaning using your logo muted (faded) into the background, so its seen but only just, kind of like a water mark.
I borrowed this site from another critique http://www.dcdomain.org/bam/main.htm the dragon on the left is muted, that dragon is a little to detailed to have text over it, but a logo, icon, name etc are fine for backgrounds.

just an idea.

me again

Looks better, but still think the right coloumn is to narrow, you have all that area to play with.

I think you need to add some oompf into it, with just the two colors (plus logo) is a bit flat, maybe just a beveled edge on the left frame, logo on the left frame as well, maybe even as a muted background, maybe use white on the right. colors are always the hardest bit for me.

Go with one or the other, it's pointless making both, just make it so that everyone get's to see something and if that means putting links on all the pages so that if they don't have frames or find a page on a search engine then everyone still gets a site they can look through.

Our pages are in size from 1,83 kb up to 24 kb. We strive to keep all pages under 25 kb for speed.

We have normally between 500-900 visits a week. So the visits are there but we try to do better all the time! And we know that some don't have frames. But we have taken that into consideration by using this text for those who can't see frames.

--------------------------

NO FRAMES TEXT
These pages uses frames, and your browser does not support frames!
You can still see our pages by going directly to the different pages.

---------------------------------

I'm thinking about having both with and without frames.
Then visitors can choose themselves. Maybe on our second page? Any thoughts about this?

I think the average these days is 33bps

Even a total of 30-50kb is ok for a page or combined for frames, its things like javascript, dhtml, animated graphics and heavy nested tables that can be slow loading, also using the full path on images slows it down.

You mention "better for you readers", if you have the readership already, maybe stick with frames, if you havent got the numbers than table layout would help build them (search engine querys etc)

We have been working to see if we can do better without frames. The final testpage is 11,4 kb. That's not bad when you consider that index.html is about 3kb and Amputation.html is 8,16 kb and menu.html is 4,76. That adds up to a total of 15,92 kb. But The menu only loads once and stays there while browsing the other pages by using the fixed menu on the left. Just browsing and reading the text in the right coloumn.

That means that If I already had loaded index.html and the menu and browsed to Amputation it only had to load 8,16 kb instead of now without frames 11,4 kb.

I'm not convinced that it will be better for the readers to make the pages without frames when we always take into consideration that many out there still uses 28.800 kbps modem.

But we want more feedback.

Test this : http://www.tasfoundation.org/test/amputation_test_no_frames.html

Welcome to TWF.

Can you help us by reviewing some of the other's sites here on the forum please. You will also find this helps yourself by giving you ideas.

Apart from what's been said above, I think that the site could be better but if this is your first site and made to put some information onto the net about the subject then you've not done a bad job, especially doing it in two languages.

One thing I will say is about frames. If you want this site picked up by the search engines then not using frames is more advisable but not essential, although if you keep them you'll have to do some more work. Put in some noframes content that the spiders can crawl along with links to the other pages and if the spiders index the other pages you'll have to have some kind of frame jamming script in place on them so that a browser will view the page in the correct frame. Also you'll need good meta tags.

As for the look of the site, I'd stick with Veranda for all the text, much easier to read and do something different with the links (don't center them!).

Good start.
