taff, I usually have Homesite, Photoshop, 2 IE windows and Netscape open with no problem. Of course, it helps to have 768M or RAM. True, it is a resource hog.

Hmm, it appears that RAM has nothing to do with HomeSite's resource problems. I recently added 256 (giving me 512) and I still have issues

http://www.allaire.com/Handlers/index.cfm?ID=21011&Method=Full

However, they DO claim that Win2K users are far less likely to have the problem. I wonder if XP falls in this category. What OS do you run mairving?

Just wanting to see if anyone has upgraded yet....

it has been a while since anyone posted on this thread.

I am still in two minds as to whether or not I should upgrade

The main difference between the Pro version and the Home (why do they keep renaming those things) is that the Pro version will support multi-processors. Here is some additional info for you.

I, for one, am skipping this upgrade, both XP and Homesite.

Yeah, that was a bad idea from the start. the only thing that really bothers me is that it won't run personal web server Which is really slowing down the PHP learning process... should I go for the home version or pro? I could probably afford home right now, but pro would have to wait... that's $350 canadian right there... plus shipping...

mairving - checked into the RAM. I might look into getting some locally so I don't have to pay the shipping ($13 US in shipping is about $20 for me)

You guys are just trying to get me to spend all my money

Megan, are you running WinME? Ugh, I am not surprised! It's time for an upgrade to XP, I say!

Excellent! I will definitely do that.

ALright, enough of that sidetrack. Any more thoughts on HS 5.0? Is anyone here planning on going for the upgrade?

Is RAM hard to install at all? I'm guessing that it's not but I've never tried to fiddle with my hardware before... Would I be able to put it in myself with no problems?

Megan, it is probably easier to install RAM then it is to get the cover off. It can only go in one way and it is hard to break anything. The only thing you need to watch out for is static.

Why don't you add some more RAM? You can get a stick of 256MB Crucial for $27 USD with free 2nd day shipping in the US. No excuse any more.
