Hmmmm, very different but different isn't always good on the internet as people see a horizontal scroll bar and think it's a design flaw! If you are building a flash site there are lots of effects and ways of creating everything in the same movie and not need to confuse things with frames.

I only get the arrows in the very bottom frame if I look at the site full screen at 1152*864. Needs some re-thinking in my opinion.

Golf at 11 ? tell your boss you need a raise

the arrows in Netscape 4.7 were only just visible, I mean the frame height of them would be about 5mm (cant convert into inches so less than a scroll bar width for peoples that dont do metric)

I am using IE 5, which didnt show the arrows frame at all

Well, actually i didn't know that it comes up with different results in deffierent browsers, but.. .

My programmer does all that. I mearly copied and pasted and old frame set to "try" this out for this site. It's super duper "temp".. . That one long .jpg is not a keeper, it was just there for visuals... .We haven't put in any res, screen or brower detectors yet, but I love you for testing it out in the others.. .

Did you say you didn't get the bottom "arrows" movie in IE? Which version are you in?? ?? ? ?

Thanks again NEW ZEALAND!! ! Go KIWI!!! !

HAHAeh e a. .

I gotta go catch my 11:00 tee time... . . (golf)

Talk to you later, thanks again for the help!!!!

jason... . .  .   .        .

In Netscape 4.7 the bottom frame doesnt load, and the weird part is it has another part under that frame with little arrows moving upwards, its a flash movie

looking at your source code you have:

<frameset rows="*,430,170,*" border=0 frameborder=0>
<frame src="tm.html" name="w1" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scrolling="no" noresize>
<frame src="index2.swf" name="w2" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scrolling="auto" noresize>
<frame src="strip.html" name="w3" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scrolling="auto" noresize>
<frame src="bm.swf" name="w4" marginwidth=0 marginheight=0 scrolling="no" noresize>
</frameset>

'In netscape I get 3, in IE i get 2, very weird.
Also notice no non frames version? I think most browsers do except frames now but there could always be one out there, at least a nice little mesage wouldnt hurt

The phone numbers are very hard to read, especially the address, the icons you have mentioned but to me they just look like blobs of color, cant work out any shapes or patterns on them.

I get a bit of scrolling up/down and sideways in both IE and Netscape, this is the reason for the bottom frame scroll: IMG SRC="strip.jpg" WIDTH=4317 HEIGHT=150

If you "need" to use frames, maybe try use vertical frames, so the scrolling down wont be un natural

.  ..Wow, that was fun.

I never got back so many comments so quickly.

sweet.

I was jus' testin you guys out. It's very "temp" but just wanted to see some comments on it. ..I'm sick of asking my girlfriend But thanks alot for the input. Most of things are going to be different such as: scrolling not so much cuz those links up top should bring in the appropiate pics to glance at down the bottom.. . Scrolling won't be on home page. (obviously, but thanks AKOHL for the response) The symbols are his and i'm trying to work those into the site as well. .He has more than six features (6 symbols) to have them simply link to a section of his portfolio.. .And so on and so forth.. . Just trying to find something catchy for the client. He does all this promotion and organization and we need to find something that let's people know what all those different things mean. . .So I figured I could link the words to some text and some job Pics that fit the discription.. . . It's tough to find things to explain negotiations, budgets, and that sort of thing without using just text. . .Maybe I'll come up with some cool sketches that say those things better.. . .i don't know. ..Gotta talk with the client and see what he feels too i guess. ..

merci alot for the input everyone!!

Check the symbols on this first draft I came up with the other day!!! !

When I read akhol's review I was wondering if I was looking at the same page, since I didn't see any frames or scrolling or anything, so i figured it must be an NS problem, opened the site in IE and sure enough, there's the frame that didn't show up for me. So, I don't know about NS 4.x but the bottom frame and scrollbar aren't showing up at all in NS 6.

Now that I can see it I can comment on that bottom frame! Everything in there looks fuzzy. The text is hard to read and I don't know what that pink and blue scribbling is underneath it (more text? I don't know). I also think that those pictures should link to larger versions.

I also don't think that this frame works well at all with the flash part of the site. I have seen horizontal scrolling work really well for a gallery type effect though - you just need to integrate things better.

It's a very page structure. I would say that its not good to have scrolling especially on a home page, especially horozontal.

In your case, the scrolling is to see images. I assume that those objects in the lower frame are not going to be links. If they are links, that would be really inconvenient. Its not good having to scroll to see what your navigation choices are.

Suggestion: Assuming that the lower frame does not contain navigation links, have it scroll slowly by itself with javascript. The images get presented, the user doesn't have to do any acrolling and you get some movement on the page, which might add to its appeal by creating a dynamic effect.

Hmmm... I'm not quite sure what to think about this one... Is that yellow and grey gradient supposed to simulate a stage lighting effect? I think I would probably do that differently - maybe more of a spotlight look. It would be neat if you could have a spotlight kind of follow the cursor around the page and light up parts of it when it mouses over them. I've seen something like this done before so I'm sure it's possible.

I'm also not sure what those icons down the middle are and what they're supposed to do.

Overall I think this design is okay but it doesn't really "wow" me. I think that you need a stronger design concept. It's a little on the weak side I think. My favourite part of the design is actually the phone numbers at the top! I really like the way that's working for some reason.

P.S. I'm assuming that this is just a mock-up and that's why the links aren't working???
