It sounds like you want a Yahoo forum.. Having mods approve everything. Will we be charging people to consider their submitted links?

Would there be a guide line page?

I mean the topic "helpful" links or "tips and tricks" is a pretty broad topic

I think you mods will have your work cut out for you, I wish you luck as the topic is a good one. maybe just relate it directly to web design and not so much pc.

things like: I have a program (link) for a program called flogger, its made for photoshop but can be used with psp that allows you to remember what steps you did to make a graphic/layout (you have to hit the keys), its related to web pages - kinda.

maybe even two topics, "tips and tricks" and "useful links", my favorites folder is filled with handy tricks, tips and useful links, I'm sure you dont want 100+ links sent at you.

That sounds good - posts having to be approved before they go up. That would strike a nice balance I think.

I think a new Tips & Tricks forum would be nice - maybe we could only give moderators and admins the ability to post and other members (if at all) could post only after their posts have been validated. If the moderating team here is up to that, I would be willing to go through with it. Of course, Chad needs to complete some other reorganization things we've been talking about, which still haven't been completed.

I don't think it really matters whether a site belongs to a poster or not... as long as it's a usefull site there's no problem I guess.

With tips and tricks you'd want to give people the opportunity to discuss - good/bad experiences with the site, any comments, related sites, recommendations, questions etc. I wouldn't like the idea of restricting it to more of a static article-type thing.

One idea would be to only allow sites to be posted by people with a certain post count (like 25 or so) if that's possible. That way only verified serious members would be allowed to participate.... not sure if I like this idea too well.

It would have to have a hard line rule that you cannot post your own site in bad faith. How to find out whether a site belongs to a poster or not is the problem either way you go.

Hi y'all,

Since Jack posted the same question at JavascriptCity, I thought you might like to see the comments so far. Our thread is located here In it, I essentially said that I believe the 'forum' should be a read-only 'sticky' thread, comprised of threads and/or links culled by the mods/admins initially. Member submissions should be mailed to the forum moderators and reviewed before being added. That would eliminate the need for supervision and the opportunity for spamming.

Vinny

I think mairving's idea is good but it'll just have to be moderated well
