Hi,

I like it. Especially the binary code / barcode type thing and the rollover effect. Add alt text for your images - also helps with the search engines I believe.

Please do a spell check / grammar check. The mistakes make the whole business look unprofessional. Get someone else to proofread for you too. They will see things you don't.

Way too stretched out at 1024 x 768. Maybe centre with a snazzy border that matches your site design?

Good luck!

Annette

I like it, after reading the other replies I didnt know what to expect on 800x600, but I like this layout, nice, clean and simple with a touch of nerdiness (no offence )

one thing I'd change is the "Nathan web designer" top right, needs to come away from the border a little, looks like its being cut off compared to the others.

Its a portfolio, and employers except .doc, otherwise I'd dribble on about how bad they are ... Another option you could use thou is a PDF file.

I had a peek at your code, and found </img>, have never seen that before, xHTML's way is just adding a / at the end of the img tag, like so <img src="image" width="100" height="100" /> also noticed your images dont have width or height tags, as a web designer these should be important shouldnt they?

especialy in the pop ups, i hate trying to read something while the text jumps all over when the image loads. the text in the pop ups is a little hard to read.

the center divider may be a little to centered, try take it back to the left more.

I'm no spelling expert or gammer proper guru, but does this make sense?
"I design sites not because I 'there is ...."

good luck on getting a job

Okay, so it IS a little bland, and the text in the middle seems okay, I think I was viewing in Netscape, and the Console Driver thing doesn't go past the window anymore either, also, may be because I was using Netscape for some reason.

I still like it, as an employer I might have considered for a small job.

Why is all the text crammed up against the left side like that? That is wierd!

What's with the UPC code stuff? That's wierd too. Overall I just find that the design seems to be stretching in weird directions. The three elements across the top - navbar, logo, and your name there are just too spread out at 1024 and then everything else sort of hangs there crunched up against the left side. It's also rather bland looking with no real colour scheme.

The site does look rather amateurish. I think that what you really need to do is come up with a better concept. Something that represents you. What I did is I found a cool dingbat and went from there so that's one idea. By looking at your portfolio I can see that you can definitely do better than this.

I am thinking along the lines of Webmistress. Muted is a good word for your site. Somethings like the subtle rollovers that you had were pretty cool. It just needs something a little more flashy on the home page. Not much but something to stand it out.

Thank you for the input so far..

MrCanzine

Can I ask what browser and resolution you viewed my site in?... There really should not be any scroll bars in the popups, and the text all down one side does not seem right at all.

It's a nice looking site but there's just something about it that I'm not sure of but I can't quite put my finger on. It all seems rather muted and dull. Don't quite know whether stronger colours would help or not??

It certainly works better at 800*600, as although it stretches ok it then looks even more sparse, perhaps try confining it to a centralised table?

I agree about the resumé, there should be an online version with the option to download it for printing.

I'm gonna try to be like these other people now.

Nice design I like the colours. One problem is your main text is all on one side. I checked your source and you've got a td=7% and I'm thinking you forgot the 0?

I checked your "My Sites" section and clicked on the Console Drivers thingy and in the window that pops up, the content didn't fit all in one window and it didn't have scrollbars so I had to click the text and drag down. But I'm on an 800x600 so it's still safe to ad another inch or so to the height of the window.

Two last no biggie things. Oh, nevermind. Was just gonna recommend making it who am I but realized it's all lower case so it fits. And noticed you have a Word 2000 version of your Resumé, does Word export to HTML? If so maybe you could quickly export a web version of your resumé for the hell of it, just ads content yanno.

But yeah, overall great site/design. I also like the little mouseover binary code thingy on your menu.
