When I enabled them (Disabled by default in 2505) they tied into Office XP like this. If it recognized a name on a page and you happened to have a similiar address in your contacts folder in Office XP it would have a pop up menu for it. Send this person a message etc. I think it is worthless but I am sure some great amount of Intranet developers will find some overly justified reason to absolutely HAVE TO HAVE it.

It is pointless from what I can see but it was turned off by default.

the tags mentioned are supported... I just finished installing IE6... no rendering difference on TWF than the IE5.0 I had before.

How does it (IE 6) deal with the older html tags, I heard tags like center, b, font etc are being dropped in favor of stylesheets, (XHTML) does IE6 still support the html 4 standards ?

The main differences that I see between IE 5.5 & 6.0 are that if you put your cursor over a jpg (not a gif), it puts a bar over it that gives you 4 options. One is to print it, the other is to email it, the other is to save to favorites and the other is to open MY PICTURES folder. I was curious if that was a way around the no-right click script, since you don't right click.

The other thing that I really like is that it can help disable some annoying popups.

I have been using it for a couple of weeks and have noticed virtually no differences between it and IE 5.5. No crashes and no pages displaying funny.

If you right-click on your toolbars, you can "lock" the bars in the position they are in. This will prevent you from accidentally rearranging things. Love it

That was one of my biggest pet peeves about v. 5. It seemed like every other day I had to re-arrange everything because I moved them by accident.

So am I right to assume that there are no major differences in the way it renders pages?

Marc what exactly do you mean when you say you can lock your toolbars in place?

Stabability and bugs in IE 6? No problems, has crashed several times, but so did 5x. Definitely not worse, and adds some nice features.

Yes, I have had IE6 beta on Windows 2000.

Then upgraded to Windows XP that was Beta with a beta IE6

Then installed Windows XP fresh (To see the difference in installations) with a beta version of IE6

Every version of IE6 has been stable. It does not crash its solid.

Now I have been running an NT kernel since I ran windows NT 4 server with my proxy server setup a couple years ago.

I now only run windows xp machines (3 under my desk here) and they are very stable.

I am getting DSL here in a few days so I will then be able to test IE6 in a broadband environment, wait I did already a couple weeks ago when I took this workstation to the bay area and ran some virus scanning for a company located there.

So, yes I would say you are safe to go to IE6, not even a question.

K

Keeg, Do you use IE 6 on a regular basis or just for testing? If you haven't had any probs with it at all then I may just go for broke and D/L 6.
