I had heard, though not confirmed, that PostgreSQL does not support autoincrementing. That and it is harder to type than MySQL. Now we have a new choice. The RedHat database which is PostgreSQL.

I've only recently started playing with it, but PostgreSQL supports a lot of the higher-end features that MySQL is lacking...

Personally I use MySQL extensively, as it's free, and integrates seemlessly with PHP (my favorite scripting languate). But I've been looking seriously at PostgreSQL as well, which PHP also supports...

Anyone else have any thoughts on PostgreSQL?

mySQL doesn't currently support Stored Procedures or Triggers. Read more here.

I've not played with Oracle, so keep that in mind.

I work mostly with mySQL and love it, mainly because I work mostly with PHP. But if you want power, mySQL can't offer what msSQL can. Keep in mind I have not played with Oracle. I have heard that Oracle is even more powerfull. Sounds fun!

Best Robustness
Oracle

I use MySQL simple because of the price, the environment, and it's PHP support.
