Hmmmm....sounds like the problem I am having. My connection seems to poop out. But, in my case, I don't think it's the modem. Netscape seems to poop out, but if I switch to MIE, everything goes along fine for a while, then I get disconnected, then I can't get a line for more than 16,200 bps. I don't know, it may be a combination. I'm going to solve this by getting cable.

Why don't you post your question over there in the Periperals section. He should be able to help you out.

That url you refer to has step by step instructions for installing a modem driver in windows 95 and 98.

would it be the same for windows 2000?

installation disk?

Thanks for the url. Looks really informative.

But practically speaking, I've got cds with drivers for all the componants of my computer which were probably used to set it up. And everything was working fine for ablut 6 months. If I just look for the modum driver on my cds and install it like any other program, should that work ok?

BTW, What did you mean by "ouch!"?

Ouch, a Conexant modem. First make sure that you have the most current driver. Check here to determine the most current driver. It is no problem to install a modem driver but it can be a real pain in the butt to get some of them to work.
