My Input On Good And Bad Hosts

Lets start with good best host so far is xeran.com very few problems good fast tech support only thing is they say 24hr tech but its not thats just smoke

Now a host to stay a way from is webintellects.com
nothing but bad things to say cant even think of a good thing
i had 9 sites with them. that i designed for and all of a sudden one by one the perl was shut off because "THERE SERVER CPU COULDNT HANDLE THE CGI SCRIPTS"
Sites being erased with no back up

constant down time very rude and bad tech support

and the straw that broke the camels back was a $190.00 credit card charge to a client for exceeding her "unlimited bandwith usage"
and another one of "Changing another clients bill without telling or asking them from $18 a month to $79 a month because of the amount of dependency they used on the msql server.

Ok felt good to vent there =)

I went from ADDR.com (bleh!) to liquidweb.com (kinda lousy) to the absolute best ever at f5hosting.

i don't know of any cheap or moderately priced host that advertised unlimited bandwidth and continues to offer it for more than a year or two.

bottom line, unlimited bandwidth isn't part of a sustainable buisness plan for a sucessful hosting biz.

You are pulling our legs right? That is the most obvious single person run business if I have ever seen one.

Why did you offer such trite.

Futurequest are being business-minded in their sensible approach to hosting, opposed to others who throw amounts around playing the numbers game. There are others cheaper than Futurequest that don't play the numbers game to the extent that we see lately although this can be contradictory when you look at Venturesonline and other similar established hosts that use this method yet do succeed.

It's the unknown hosts that go and lease a low-end dedicated server for a few hundred dollars and become the instant host that are coming out of nowhere and offering the same types of packages, high bandwidth and space, etc and driving prices down to unrealistic levels.

Cheap can be obtained if the host uses a realistic approach to how much bandwidth is covered in the sale price of their packages alone, considering that is where they will win or lose, apart from database allotment considerations for the server capacity.

Unfortunatly though, it's the perception of the customer that is driving the market still, looking for the cheap and least expensive hosting solution and this is where these budget hosts will always prey and succeed until word gets out that the cheap host isnt all it's saying it is.
