Curious... why don't you just put one OS on one box, and the other OS on the other box?

I bought a new machine about 2 weeks ago. It's now running windows, and my old 700MHz 512MB ram is running linux. Lovely combo.

I've got one CAT5 comming into my room from the router, and have my windows box and linux box uplinked through a 10Mb hub. I wish I had another 10/100Mb router, but I don't. They are getting cheap, so maybe someday.

I'm planning on putting it on my new AMD 1.1 ghz 512mb ram 30 gb hd, so it shouldn't slow down too much...
Which one should I download?
The windows one or the linux one??

I must be nuts. It is not Va Linux but VM Ware. It is not freeware but they do have a trial version. If you have a slow computer, forget it because it further slows things down.

What is VA Linux?
Does it run windows in a window like a Mac can do?
I'm building a new computer, so i'll have a brand new 30 GB HD to mess with.
I'm still using RH6.2 because RH7.1 wasn't working, and I didn't like Mandrake.
I do have a Cable connection, but I already have the ISO image downloaded.
I have never loaded the X server when I installed a RH, because of my horribly slow computer.
Mandrake automatically loaded it, and I couldn't figure out how to get it off...
Now I know how to, but I'll wait until i get my new computer together!

Nike, the only way to have Linux always running and Windows when necessary is to use something like VA Linux. This will allow you to run Windows in a window.

You always install Windows first, since it will overwrite the mbr and make Linux inaccessible.

If you want to do 15 and 15, then use fdisk. You will of course lose all data on the disk. I would delete all of my partitions and create one FAT32 partition of 15GB. Leave the rest of the space free. Then once Windows is installed, install Linux on the free space.

Why are you still using RedHat 6.2? Try Mandrake 8.0. I can send you a copy if you don't have a high speed connection.
