same for me. i don't want to do what other people tell me, so i ignored all this voices. but now, after reading articles from 'neutral' sources,(i.e. 'weaving the web' by tim berners-lee) i really see some kind of sense for a language like xml. but anyway, i don't feel like knowing a lot about it, probably because a big part of it is still floating.

I've been told by several people that I should learn XML. But it doesn't appeal to me. I've not needed it in the past, and I can do everything I want with other tools.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for this hyped language to take off like all these magazines predict. But the last time I checked, it was still grounded.

Any thoughts on this?

yeah, i got that o'reilly pocket-refernce and had a look at w3 too.

i just want to get an idea of that 'almighty' thing. i'm wondering: is it already used anywhere or just a thing of the future? do you use it?

You could always try http://www.w3.org/XML/ under "Bookmarks: Recommended Reading" thats where I got my start, I would also recommend the O'Reilly books on XML
