You can do this with Photoshop - just use the path tools.

1. Use the rectangle tool set to "create new work path" and draw a square - this is the front of the box.
2. Duplicate that square in the same path by using the path selection tool and alt-dragging it. Put the duplicate to the right of the original
3. Switch to the direct selection tool (under the path component selection tool) and highlight the two points on the right side of the new square (just draw a box around them to select) and move them up and in, so the shape is narrower. This is the side of the box
4. Select the front square again and duplicate it - this time moving the new one to go above the original
5. Select the top two points of this square using direct selection tool. Move them down and over to line up with the side corner you already made.
6. Now, this is the tricky part. PS seems to have created my paths as solid shapes. So what you have to do is select on the tool options bar select "intersect shape areas" (or you can do this before you start) - then you can stroke the path and create your final cube. This part confuses me too.

Hey Merlin,

Do ya still need that cube? I have Paint Shop Pro 6 and 7 and they both have letter blocks and dice picture tubes. You can easily use the clone tool to paint over the dots on the dice or the letters on the blocks and make the cube one color.

Since it doesn't sound important for the cube to look a specific way, why not find a clip art version?

I don't know a lot of free clipart sites, because I always find what I need at http://dgl.microsoft.com/. Most of it is pretty hi-res.

You could blow it up and trace it at a high resolution in PS6 if it isn't hi-res already.

Hope that helps
